Peer Review Policy

The Journal of Medicine and Dentistry (JMDNT) operates a double-blind peer review process, ensuring impartiality and academic integrity in the evaluation of all manuscripts.

1. Review Process

  • Initial Editorial Screening: All submissions are first assessed by the Editor-in-Chief or an assigned Associate Editor to ensure compliance with the journal’s scope, formatting requirements, and ethical standards.

  • Double-Blind Review: Authors’ identities are concealed from reviewers, and reviewers’ identities are concealed from authors.

  • Reviewer Selection: Reviewers are selected based on subject expertise, research experience, and absence of conflicts of interest.

  • Number of Reviewers: Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent experts.

  • Decision Outcomes: Possible editorial decisions include:

    • Accept

    • Minor revisions

    • Major revisions

    • Reject

2. Review Timeline

  • Time to First Decision: Approximately 30 days from submission.

  • Average Review Time: 60 days.

  • Time from Submission to Acceptance: Target average of 120 days.

3. Reviewer Responsibilities

  • Provide constructive, evidence-based feedback.

  • Identify any potential ethical issues, plagiarism, or relevant missing citations.

  • Submit reviews within the agreed timeframe.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding the manuscript and its content.

4. Author Responsibilities

  • Address reviewers’ comments point-by-point in a detailed response letter.

  • Resubmit revised manuscripts within the specified deadline.

  • Notify the editor if additional time is needed for revisions.

5. Conflict of Interest

  • Reviewers, authors, and editors must declare any competing interests that could influence their objectivity.

  • Manuscripts with identified conflicts are reassigned to other reviewers.

6. Appeals and Complaints

  • Authors who disagree with a decision may submit a written appeal, explaining the reasons and providing supporting evidence.

  • Appeals are reviewed by an independent editorial panel.

7. Compliance with COPE

JMDNT follows the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers and uses COPE flowcharts to guide decisions in cases of disputes, suspected misconduct, or ethical concerns.
